Fr. Joe, you saved my soul. I live in Ontario Canada where you came for a while to convalesce. I was a miracle for me that you ended up spending a short hiatus in our small community, because my life was quite dramatically transformed by you, through the sacrament of reconciliation, when you said, with a tear in your eye, "Welcome home". I went on to ministerial work after that. You clearly and so dearly loved our Lord and our Blessed Mother Mary. You carried your cross with grace and dignity, and and I, in turn, was saved. I pray that our Heavenly Father will admit you with lightning speed into the heavenly banquet with the Saints, because for me, you are a Saint. You were meek and humble of heart. Well done Good and Faithful Servant! Fr. Joe, please pray for us! Amen.

Dear Father Joe, as I prepare to start my day I found myself thinking about you and reminiscing.I remember the novenas you gave at many parishes . One especially is close to me. I had been sacristan at Our Lady of Mouny Carmel in Jersey City when I first met you and prepared your vestments for that evenings novena . You left a lasting impression on my mind ,a true follower of Christ. We met again at the feast of Our Lady of Mount in July of 1973 as we walked amongst the crowd where you were with your cousin Patricia and we were introduced. Little did I realize that 3yrs later she would become my wife.We have been married 32 years and have a great family. My family always held a special place in our hearts for you as we watched you through the years as a servant of the Lord . We are sure you are in Paradise praying for us. As the scripture states you have fought the good fight, have completed the race and kept the faith, well done good and faithful servant come and share your Masters happiness. Thanks Father Joe for being such an inspiration and showing us by your example how to walk in the shadow of the Lord.

When I was a boy we always had Fr. Joe Lupo's Trinitarian at Grey Rock Garrison Md. Mass Cards on hand. We supported his ministry.
Fr. Lupo grew up in Bayonne with my Mother's family, The Merola Family from W. 22 St. He was my uncle, Neil Merola's lifelong friend. They were the same age. He celebrated Uncle Neil's funeral Mass in 1988 at Assumption Church in Bayonne. After that, my Mother,, Rose Squitieri, Uncle AnthonyMerola Aunt Fannie Merola and Aunt Agnes Cirillo visited him in Staten Island on occasion and went to lunch. He also concelebrated Uncle Anthony's funeral Mass. He died in a car accident Nov. 18, 2000. We hadn't heard from Father after 2001. My Mother and Aunts have all died recently, after long good lives. May I extend to you, his niece and nephew and your families my heartfelt sympathy at the loss of this great, humble man. May God bless and comfort you at this time.
Sincerely,
Lou Squitieri
