Lois Pauline Chester

Lois Pauline Chester, age 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2025, in Jarrettsville, Maryland. Born in Groseclose, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Carl F. Atwell, Sr., and the late Agnes (Bedwell) Atwell.

Lois was the beloved wife of the late John Benjamin Chester. She was also preceded in death by her son, John Chester; her brothers, Marvin Atwell, and Douglas Atwell; her sisters, Teresa Atwell, and Lucille Taylor.

She is survived by her loving sons, Todd (Dawn) Chester and Heath (Patricia) Chester; her cherished grandchildren, Tanya Chester, William Chester, Allison Chester, and Megan Chester; and her adored great-grandchildren, Ariah, Archer, Colson, Paisley and Jade. Lois is also survived by her siblings, Carl Atwell, Jr., Donald Atwell, Vivian Zamzow, Sue Linnane, and Anita Lowe.

Lois dedicated more than 30 years to the United States Postal Service, retiring as the Postmaster of the Upper Falls Post Office. She enjoyed a variety of creative pursuits including sewing, arts and crafts, and painting. She also took classes in amateur archaeology. A faithful member of William Watters United Methodist Church, she was active in the church and the ladies group.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 6 – 9 pm and Saturday November 29, 2025, at 9 – 10 am at McComas Family Funeral Homes in Bel Air. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM at McComas Family Funeral Homes in Bel Air.

Interment will follow at Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
