Louis Géczy Obituary

Louis Richard Géczy (Géczy Lajos), age 84, of Street, Maryland passed away on November 9, 2023, at his home. Born in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania on February 15, 1939, he was the son of the late Louis and Julia (Magyar) Géczy and husband of Louise Brink Géczy for 54 years.

In addition to his wife Louise, Louis (Lou) is survived by his daughters, Michelle Géczy, Jessica Géczy-Shertzer, and Allison Fordyce; sons by marriage, Michael Shertzer and Brad Fordyce; grandchildren, Ellery and Adeline Shertzer and Tate, Grayce, and Nash Fordyce; and sister, Jeanette Wiegand.

Lou also had four other sisters, the late Julia, Evelyn, Goldie, and Eleanor, and grandson, Jack Shertzer.

Lou had a long and distinguished 30-year career as an educator. He taught at Parkville High School for 28 years, retiring in 1998. He began his career in Florida, where he met his wife, Louise, while teaching at the same school.

Lou's family and friends will remember him for his quick wit and sense of humor, love of family, lifelong friendships, and excellence as an educator. He valued family, his faith, and his Hungarian heritage. He was proud of his service to his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force. A graduate of Florida State University, he was an avid Seminoles' fan and also a Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Visitation will be held at McComas Family Funeral Home (50 West Broadway, Bel Air, MD 21014) on Friday, November 17 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Visit www.mccomasfuneralhome.com for more information.

I think about you, remember you fondly, and still cannot believe your're really gone, my friend. My heart goes out to Louise and your children and grandchildren. What a huge void your passing left in this world. Your love, your wit, and your beautiful soul will never be forgotten.

I love you, Lou, and I know you loved me. You were a wonderful teacher and the best friend I could have had as a teenager from a violent, broken home who was on her own by age 15. You made me believe in myself, saved my life, nurtured my mind, and healed my heart, which you held safely in your hands until you died. Thank you. You were my bridge over troubled waters, and the most dedicated husband and father I could ever imagine. I know you are in a good place because my heart is there with you. "Your time has come to fly. All your dreams are on their way." My heart goes out to Louise and your children. You were a hard man to lose.

To the family of Mr. Geczy - I am so sorry and sad that your have lost your wonderful husband, Dad and Granddad. I remember him well from PHS (1973). He was a great teacher and human being. He was the cool teacher that was admired by all of his students. Please accept my most sincere condolences. RIP Mr. Geczy.
