Lynda Nerhood Obituary

Lynda Jeanne Nerhood, age 84, who resided at 6451 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD, passed away quietly at the University of Maryland Medical Center on 10/3/2025 after a brief illness. She was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, the eldest daughter of Albert Clark and Jeanne van Ormer Nerhood. She grew up in Charles Town, West Virginia and graduated from Charles Town Senior High School. She attended Longwood College in Farmville, VA and later earned an Associate Degree in Nursing Science from Allegheny Community College in Cumberland, MD. Soon thereafter, she joined the clinical nursing staff in the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Marshall University School of Medicine. In 1983, she moved to Baltimore and for the next two decades served as a clinical nurse coordinator at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Department of Infectious Diseases for HIV drug trials. Other opportunities led to Lynda being the Clinical Manager of the Operations Office for the National Institutes of Health's Division of Aids and Research Nurse for the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore's Institute of Human Virology, a role involving extensive world travel. She completed her career as an independent grant writer.

Lynda was preceded in death by her two children, Jennifer Lynn Hyler and John Robert Hyler IV. She has three surviving siblings: Robert Clark Nerhood of Seabrook Island, SC, Rebecca Nerhood Speaks of Belvedere, CA. and Johanna Nerhood Edwards of Rockford, IL.

A Memorial Service will be planned for a later date.

These words would be incomplete without mentioning Lynda's love of animals, most particularly her poodles and her surviving and very special cat, Tom.

Memorial contributions can be made to the pet shelter of your choice.
