Melba Riddle Obituary

Melba Jean "Mel" Riddle passed away peacefully on May 17, 2023 at the age of 87. She will be greatly missed for her kindness and generosity. Mel was born in Bakersville, North Carolina and moved to Maryland as a child. She grew up in Jessup where she began her career with Giant Food, opening both the Wilde Lake and Owen Brown stores where she met and made many lifelong friends. After retirement, she devoted many hours making and donating crocheted blankets for Veterans, hats for newborns and many other items for friends and family. She loved playing the slots at various casinos with her group of gal pals. Mel also spent many hours teaching crochet and ceramics, being a Cub Scout Den mother for her sons, and transporting elderly folks to medical appointments.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Albert Riddle, daughter Rhonda Neubauer, sons Bryan Riddle (Jennifer), Charles Riddle, and grandchildren Brent Riddle, Lauren Riddle, Meredith Neubauer (Davin Davison), Michael Neubauer and sister Polly Hungerford. She is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Phoebe McKinney and sister Gerry Falls.

A memorial service in her honor will be held in the near future.
