Mary & Family,
I taught with Mel at Mervo for many years. I was so sorry to hear about his passing. Mel was a great guy, an excellent teacher and role model to his students, and a Mervo legend. It was an honor to know him, and be assured he helped hundreds of students not only learn about printing, but they also learned about the value of hard work and the importance of respect for others. I extend my deepest sympathy.
In memory of Mel, I made Halloween treat bags for the faculty at the school where I have volunteered—St. Francis of Assisi.
With sympathy & friendship,
Bonnie Russo (Social Studies, Mervo, 1970-2002)

Mary -- I was very sorry to read about Mel's passing. You may not remember me, but some 40-odd years ago I bought your house on Anthony Avenue. Mary Filar and I have remained in contact in through the years and she always told me when she would get together with you guys when she was in Ocean City, and she told me about his Parkinson's. My condolences to you and your family.

Mel and I taught together at Mervo and I went to school with his brother Richard. Mel was always the life of a party , especially at my 50th birthday, where he roasted me good. I enjoyed the times that the Mervo crowd would get together, with Mel and Mary . GOD BLESS MEL.
