Michael Houck

1950 - 2018

Michael B. Houck, age 67, of Street, Maryland, died Monday July 9, 2018 at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore after almost a year long illness. He was surrounded by his wife, Debbie and his brother Rob and wife Dereen when the Lord took him home. Michael Bruce Houck was born October 16, 1950 in Harrisburg, PA to the late James W. and Joyce C. (nee Abbott) Houck. He was the first of four children born to his parents and lived most of his life in the Baltimore area. Mike attended Camp Hill High School in Camp Hill, PA and graduated at Parkville High School, MD. His first love and devotion was to his family, but Mike also loved and dedicated his life to his work as a nursing technician in the CCU at the University Of Maryland Medical Center for over 25 years. He also coordinated the basic life support program for the hospital. Michael was an avid Baltimore sports fan, following first the Colts and then the Ravens Football team along with the Orioles baseball club. In addition, he was a passionate Bruce Springsteen fan. On 5/23/1987 Michael married Debra Cleary, daughter of James Harrison and Ruth Ann Cleary. Michael is survived by his wife and son, James Michael Houck, and three siblings, Patricia L. (Steven) Hyde of Perry Co, PA; Gary S. (K.C.) Houck of Denver, CO; and James R. (Dereen) Houck of Red Lion, PA. Also survived by his brother in law, Jamie Cleary and his wife Melissa along with many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Family and friends will honor Michael's life at the family owned Evans Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services – Bel Air, 3 Newport Drive (Rt. 23 & Rt. 24), Forest Hill on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 4-9 PM where a memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2018 beginning at 11 AM. Interment to be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael's name to the American Heart Association-4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979.
