I was saddened to hear about Mitch's illness and passing today. I hadn't seen him for 20 years since I lost touch after I left town, but remember his great disposition and how he seemed to know and was liked by everyone. I have many great memories from back then with Mitch at Grateful Dead shows, weekly poker games, and visiting him at Pimlico, where he seemed to be at the center of everything and everyone. My condolences to his family and friends.

To the family of Mitch,
I don't think anyone in Mitch's family knows me; I worked with him in a part-time job (Mitch's second job). He was a true gentleman, a caring person, a great human being and friend that will be missed by so many. I am so greatful that I had the chance to talk to him, right before his surgery. Even in his darkest moments, he was full of humor, compliments and high spirits! Mitch's nephew & niece captured his true spirit at his funeral, & they should be very proud of themselves; I know it had to be tough to do. Their tribute was spoken so well & so deserving of the way he lived his life. Everyone should be so lucky to have their own Mitch. My thoughts are with all of you!

Mitchell touched our hearts during my father's passing in June. He not only offered his help and compassion, but also had that omnipresent spark in his eyes and made us laugh and feel light. What made him the unique Mitchell will always keep his memory alive. The world is a sadder place without him.

Thank you for being my life-long friend Mitchell. You had the heart of a champion racehorse -- the noble beast you respected the most. You figured out a long time ago that the "meaning of life" is friends and family. I will live the rest of my life taking from your positive, winning attitude towards everything!
