Murray Levin

Murray Harold Levin, 83, of Baltimore, MD, passed away on December 18, 2025. He was born July 28, 1942, to Sigmund Jerome and Mildred "Toby" (Toback) Levin.

Murray earned his JD, yet instead of becoming an attorney, he followed what truly called to him as a child: the essence and spirit of people, humanity, and the natural world. Murray spent his life preserving it. He built Murray Levin Photography and later Aavid Video and Photography-one of Maryland's first commercial video production companies. For nearly six decades, he documented weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, and legal events-but his work extended far beyond any single frame. Murray connected with everyone around him, drawing out what was real and true, capturing not just a moment but the feeling that lived within it, the authenticity of life.

An adventurer at heart, Murray embraced life fully. He was known for his sharp wit and sense of humor that could light up any room, along with his intelligence and generous spirit. He was a powerful advocate for protecting children and for organic, sustainable food-believing that what we put into our bodies and our environment directly shapes the health and wellbeing of future generations. He lived simply, valuing family, friendships, and meaningful experiences above all else. Those who knew him remember a man of great charm and genuine kindness who always wanted the best for others.

He is survived by his children, Shawn Levin and Shelley (Levin) Goggans; grandchildren, Kayla Goggans and Shaydon Goggans; and brothers, Joel Levin and Phil Levin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Kaiden Goggans.
