Noah L. Brannan

Noah L. "Fuzzy" Brannan of Forest Hill, MD passed away early Wednesday morning, January 29, 2014 at the age of 90 with his wife, Ruth, by his side. Born in Nashville, NC, he was the son of the late Eddie Thomas Brannan and Lillie Savanah (Rackley). In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers: Charlie, George and Buck; his former wife of 47 years, Esther Marie (Harper) and a son, Craig W. Brannan. Noah left the farm in North Carolina when he was 17 to learn auto mechanics and ended up as a welder on navy ships at Newport News Shipyard. He headed north to Maryland and drove cabs in Havre de Grace during the war and then was employed by General Motors and Chevrolet. He became an electrician for Lippman Electric in the 50s and eventually started up his own business (J&B Electric and then N.L. Brannan, Inc.) in the 60s doing electrical/refrigeration maintenance and repair work for High's of Baltimore (dairy plant on Sisson Street and numerous stores around the Baltimore area) as well as many other industrial and commercial businesses throughout the Baltimore region. He enjoyed many years with his family at the cabin on Conowingo Lake (Susquehanna River) and after retirement, he became a "snowbird" and began spending time at his cottage on the Gulf of Mexico in Hudson, Florida during the winter months to avoid the cold weather. Throughout his life, Fuzzy was an avid deer and duck hunter and also spent quite a bit of time fishing. He enjoyed boating and taking family and friends out on the Susquehanna and the Gulf of Mexico. He loved watching the stock market and became quite adept with the computer in his later years. A great storyteller with an interesting life, he will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his dear wife of 10 years, Ruth (Worthington Young) and five children and their spouses: Carol (and Bob) Suit of Dundalk, Luana Lee (and Bob) Crush of Joppa; Garry (and Sherrie) Brannan of Delta, PA, Michael (and Donna) Brannan of Parkville, and Theresa (and Jay) Varipatis, of Phoenix; along with 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His youngest brother, Raymond and his wife Ruth, are still living in North Carolina. Friends and family can share in the commemoration of Noah (aka Fuzzy) on Saturday, February 1st, at the Richlin Ballroom, 1700 Van Bibber Road, in Edgewood (off Rt. 24). Visitation starts at 11 AM followed by a memorial service at 12:30 PM and a Celebration of Life to honor and remember his 90 years with us.
