Patricia Barth Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Ann Barth, age 85, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family in the early morning hours of April 25, 2022 at the Senator Bob Hooper Hospice House in Forest Hill, Maryland. She was the first-born child to George and Frances (Keedwell) Panian on January 24,1937 in Brockton, Massachusetts. After relocating to Maryland with her parents and becoming a big sister, she graduated from the Catholic High School of Baltimore for girls with exceptional grades and began her career in administrative work as a legal secretary. Patricia married Nelson Luke Barth, Jr., becoming a selflessly devoted wife and mother to their four children during their 62 years of marriage. Sadly, Patricia lost both her father and brother unexpectedly in 1968. She remained very close with her mother, Frances, who lived on the lot directly behind Pat and Nelson's home in Essex, MD. When Pat, her husband, and children moved to their farm in Joppa, MD, she welcomed her mother into their home and adoringly cared for her until she passed in 1992.

Pat worked for decades in Harford County's Department of Planning and Zoning before retiring as a Planner in 2002. She continued serving the community through volunteer and advocacy work as an active member of the Friends of Harford (Citizens Voice for Responsible Land Use), serving on the board. During her busy retirement, she helped others and lived life to the fullest with her growing family by her side. Pat proudly became "Grammy" to 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren during her life. Her unwavering dedication to her husband and family, especially her role as Grammy, was her greatest achievement and source of joy.

Some of Pat's interests and hobbies included baking, gardening, reading, doing cross-word puzzles, traveling with family, going to the beach, listening to rock n' roll, enjoying her dogs, and shopping at Macy's & J.Jill. Some of her favorite times included attending her grandchildren's sports and achievements, having lunch and quality time with her friends, and going out to the movies.

Patricia was preceded in death by her brother, George Panian, and her grandson, Johnny Miller. She is survived by her husband, Nelson Barth; children, Mary Ann Melrose (Glenn), Thomas Barth (Laurey), Gregory Barth (Kim), and Robin Barth; grandchildren, Julianne Green, Blake Miller, Michael Melrose, Aaron Melrose, Robert Miller, Stephaney Barth, Matthew Barth, Bradley Barth, Caroline Barth, Gregory Miller, Katie Barth; great-grandchildren, Anna Green, Avery Green, Barrett Miller, Brody Miller, Paxton Melrose; niece, Santa Blouse and nephew, George Panian.

Patricia will be remembered for her grace, intelligence, and humor. She will forever be a shining light in the various communities and organizations she positively impacted.

Family and friends of Pat are invited to her visitation at McComas Family Funeral Home at 50 W Broadway, Bel Air, MD, from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. & 7 p.m.-9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27th. Her funeral will be held the following day on Thursday, April 28th, at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church located at 8030 Bradshaw Road, Kingsville, MD, followed by a graveside burial at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in Dundalk, MD.

Additionally, the Barth family would like to extend our gratitude to all of the nurses and staff at the Senator Bob Hooper Hospice House for their compassion and loving care during her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www2.jdrf.org) in honor of her beloved grandson, Johnny Miller.
