Pauline Kummer
1919 - 2015

Pauline Victoria Kummer, a public health nurse in the Baltimore area for more than 40 years, died on January 29 at Edenwald In Towson, Md. She was 95. Born on Dec. 8, 1919, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Pauline and Alfonse Kummer. She was a 1940 graduate of Vassar College, and a 1944 graduate of Yale School of Nursing. She received a degree in public health from Columbia University in 1948. She worked in New Haven and New York City and in the Baltimore area for the remainder of her career. She is survived by nieces, Paula Nash of Ridgefield, Conn., Janet Skipper of Dorchester, N.H., and nephews, Alfred John Kummer, Jr. of Meriden, Conn., and Peter Alan Kummer of North Branford. She was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Alfred Kummer, of Hamden, Conn., and by her life partner, Florence E. Burnett. In her retirement, she was a volunteer at the Surprise Shop in Towson, Md., took many courses in adult education which included extensive travel in the United States and Europe. She was also a fan of the Baltimore Orioles and had season tickets for many years. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal church, Towson, Maryland.
