Raymond "Ray" Forthuber

1933 - 2023

Raymond (Ray) Frank Forthuber, 90, of Timonium, MD died peacefully on Wednesday, December 6. Ray was born in Baltimore, MD in 1933, to Carolina and Maximillian Forthuber, the second youngest of eight children. He earned a bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University, where he excelled at football and lacrosse. He served 4 years active duty in the Air Force followed by 8 years in the Air National Guard. He held executive positions at several companies including IBM, The Computer Company, and PHH. Ray loved coaching, working with children, and community service. He was an avid collector of art and coins, with a deep appreciation for history, reading, and writing. He was devoted to and survived by his wife of 69 years, the former Emily Pauline Mainolfi. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, Doug (Susan), Kim, Cathy (Diane), and Steve (Diane); grandchildren, Ray (Emily), Andrew, Cara (Dave), Ashley, and Peyton; and great-grandchildren, Holden and Holland. Ray's highest purpose was his commitment to others; he looked for the best in all and will be greatly missed. Family and friends will honor and celebrate Ray's life at Ruck-Towson Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 York Road (at beltway exit 26) on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, 10 AM, at The Catholic Community of St. Francis Xavier, 13717 Cuba Road, Hunt Valley, MD 21030. Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made in Ray's name to Gilchrist Hospice and their We Honor Veterans program.
