Richard Beauchemin Obituary

Richard R. Beauchemin, Jr., MD of Sylva NC, passed into eternal life on August 17, 2021 at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC, a victim of Covid-19.

Dr. Beauchemin, born August 11, 1956 in Baltimore, was preceded in death by his parents, Richard R. Beauchemin, Sr. and Lorraine Beauchemin, previously of Baltimore. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra, six children and spouses, one granddaughter, four brothers, four sisters and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A board-certified surgeon for over thirty years, Dr. Beauchemin built a four office Ophthalmology practice in Western North Carolina. He earned his undergraduate degree from Loyola University; his master's and medical degrees both from the University of Maryland, School of Medicine, where he was valedictorian of the class of 1983.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Waynesville, NC. with internment immediately following.

I attended St. Matthew´s School with Richard. I was always impressed by his musical ability, especially with the banjo. My sympathy and prayers go out to Richard´s wife and family.
