Robert William "Bob" Lueckel, age 74, of
Ocean View, DE, formerly of Bel Air and
Forest Hill, MD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE.
Born in
Baltimore, MD on May 10, 1951, Bob was the son of the late William and Esther (Ditzer) Lueckel. He attended the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) in a five-year cooperative education program and began his career at the General Motors Plant in Baltimore. He later became the Paint Department Supervisor, proudly working on the Astro Vans. After 36 years of dedicated service, Bob retired in 2005.
Bob had many interests, but cars were his lifelong passion. He was an enthusiastic member of both the Bel Air Corvette Club and the Beachcombers Corvette Club. After moving to Ocean View in 2012, Bob founded the local Cars and Coffee group that meets regularly at Grotto's. He also served as Co-Chairman of Justin's Beach House in Bethany Beach and was a proud supporter of Contractors for a Cause.
Bob was a faithful member of Mariner's Bethel Global Methodist Church. His life was deeply enriched by the friendships and fellowship he found in the Tuesday morning men's Bible study.
Bob and Nancy met and married in Bel Air, Maryland, creating a blended family filled with love. Together they raised their family in Bel Air and Forest Hill before relocating to the Delaware beaches in 2012. One of Bob's greatest joys was the annual family trip to Lake Gaston, North Carolina, where "Pop-Pop" spent cherished time teaching each grandchild to fish and captaining the beloved Adults Only sunset cruise.
Bob was predeceased by his parents and by his first wife, Mary Early Lueckel. He is survived by his devoted wife of 36½ years, Nancy; and his five daughters: Katie (Alex) Waddell of Gambrills, MD; Colleen (Mark) Evans of Clayton, DE; Megan (Stacey) Roach of White Marsh, MD; Carrie (Charles) Williams of Rock Hill, SC; and Crystal (Anthony) Murphy of Raleigh, NC. He was the proud Pop-Pop of ten grandchildren: Adelie and Brooks Waddell; Elizabeth, Boe, and Georgia Evans; Luke and Bennett Williams; and Peyton, Austin, and Knox Murphy. Bob is also survived by his sister, Linda (Edward) McCabe of Oregon, Don (Linda) Ladd of
Missouri and Judy (Tony) Teoli of Newark, DE. He leaves behind his beloved dog, Daisy.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 2–4 PM on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Mariner's Bethel Global Methodist Church, 81 Central Ave.,
Ocean View, DE. A second visitation will be held from 10–11 AM on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the church, followed by a celebration of Bob's life at 11 AM.
