Stephen Clark Winter

Stephen Clark Winter, of Naples, Florida, and Phoenix, Maryland, passed away on April 14, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and accomplished attorney, Steve was born and raised in Towson, Maryland, the son of Nelson Stanley Winter, an attorney and executive at Mercantile Bank, and Janet Clark Winter, a homemaker.

A graduate of Towson High School and Drexel University, where he played lacrosse and was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, Steve earned his law degree with honors from the University of Maryland. He spent the majority of his distinguished career at Miles & Stockbridge P.C., specializing in commercial transactions, public finance, tax matters, and estates & trusts. Steve fondly remembered trying precedent-setting cases before the Supreme Courts of the United States and Spain. Many of Steve's clients became lifelong friends to him and his wife. Inspired by his compelling career, all three of his children earned law degrees.

Steve gave back to his community, serving as President of the North Baltimore Aquatic Club and supporting fundraising efforts for Roland Park Country School and Gilman School, where his children attended. He cherished family time, coaching his children's sports teams and traveling to support them in competitions. Steve and his wife eventually became the unofficial Duke University Swim Team parent cheer squad, traveling across the U.S. and frequently to Durham, for over a decade to support their two children. Steve loved family vacations to Bethany Beach and Naples, Florida, and enjoyed golf with friends and family at Hillendale and Wyndemere Country Clubs.

Known for his wisdom, calm demeanor, and unwavering support, Steve was a trusted confidante to many. He is survived by his wife, Colleen; his children, Patrick, Holly, and Heather (William); grandsons Lawson and William; and his sister, Martha Devlin (Harry).

A memorial service will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins or the Maryland SPCA in Steve's memory. Online condolences may be left at www.lemmonfuneralhome.com
