Grandpa(Gus hammer) was the best man you sould find. If you were ever in a bind. Gus hammers mind always had some type of solution. As a Loving, caring man. He tought any one who was willing to learn. This was my freind, my grandfather, and my teacher. He gave his would to show his love and tought me how to be strong. This man never frowned if you told truth. Forever he will look appon us with loving smiles, and he will always hope for the best. This man always had hope and that is why is life was dark. It was as bright as the sun on a hot michigan summer day. Joy helped him through good and bad. She made this man whole. No one was better for him, and for thar thank you joy. I never will for get or stop loving either one.

YOU TOLD ME...
you would not go out with me.That we would never get along. I never told you that was the only time I ever asked a man out. Just had never met a man who impressed me enough. It was the way you carried yourself. That slow confident strut you had happening. The way people resonded to the presance that was GUS HAMMER. Everyone sat a little taller. Your positve energy was so damn infectous.
You didn't realize you had just met someone as bullheaded, stubborn and German as yourself.
For 21 yrs. 7665 short days I had the priviledge, the honor, the blessing of proving you wrong.
You told me all you can do is your best sweety than don't worry about it.
And I know, that you know I did.
You told me a few months later that you felt I had what you needed as a partner. That you thought I was the kind of woman who would stand proud beside you and always work together. You have no idea how humbeling and empowered your faith in me , made me feel.
You told me you thought it was destiny. That god had a plan before either of us was even born that we would be together.
You told me once that the morning star was our star. Put there for us to mark a new beginning. Sweety in my heart that journey is neverending and you will always be part of everything I encounter from this point forward.
There is no before and after.
Always the energy of Gus and Joy
will stand proud and be together.
Your last act was to pull me to you and tell me you loved me.
The last words you heard were me telling you the same and that ALWAYS I had been so proud to be you woman. I love you so sweety.

So sorry to hear about Gus. I was a friend and customer of his Golden Ave. Station. He was a big hearted man that would almost do the work on your vehicle for nothing to help you out. I have not seen him in a long time, but he has always in my thoughts. I have nothing but wonderful memories of him.

I won't be there physically, but I'll be with all of you in spirit on Wednesday and Thursday. Gus was an amazing man and a great uncle and while he will be missed he truly lives on in the wisdom, love, and memories he left behind. It's hard not to be sad, but I know he's looking down on us with that gentle smile and mischievious twinkle in his eyes that was so quintessentially Gus.
