David Denney Obituary
Athens - David Denney, 64, the man, the myth, the legend of Athens, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at his home. He was born August 30, 1956 in Coldwater, Michigan to Peter and Frances (Hovarter) Denney and has resided in the same location all his life. He was a member of the Athens High School Class of 1974. He was employed by Henckel's Meat Market of Mendon, then worked at Kellogg's in Battle Creek.
David loved his family. He is survived by his mom, Darlene Denney; two brothers, Timothy (Dawn) Denney of Lapeer and Patrick (Denise) Denney of Battle Creek; sister, Suzan (James) Novak of Dryden; many cousins; several nieces, nephews, grand-nephews and one great niece; five special aunts; his many friends, Craig Henderson, Betsy Quick and Rodney Smith.
He was preceded in death by his biological parents; brother, Norman; his grandparents; and his favorite dog, Percy.
David enjoyed farming with his Allis-Chalmers tractors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He pitched fast-pitch softball. He attended Factoryville Bible Church all his life.
A celebration of David's life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Factoryville Bible Church in Athens, with Pastor Fred Goebert officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:30-8:00 PM on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail in Union City.
Memorials may be made to Factoryville Bible Church or to Camp Elvin, 33650 Factoryville Road, Athens, MI 49011.
