Helen Reynolds Obituary

Helen M. Reynolds Battle Creek Helen M. Reynolds, 90, of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Mercy Pavilion. She was born October 5, 1917 in Hastings, Michigan the daughter of Frank and Mary (Fast) McPherson. Helen was a 1932 graduate of Hastings High School and a 1939 graduate of Nazareth College/Borgess Hospital Nursing program. She served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 with the 232nd General Hospital serving in Saipan and Iwo Jima. Helen moved to Battle Creek in 1946 and began work at Community Hospital as a Nurse Anesthetist, from which she retired in 1979. On July 6, 1952 she was married to Vern E. Reynolds in Hastings, Michigan. Helen was a member of Maple United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Sunrise Circle, served as the secretary for U.M.W. and the circle. She was also a member of the Women's Overseas Service League, Women's Christian Club and enjoyed sewing, tatting, crocheting and playing bridge. Surviving are two brothers: Hugh McPherson of Nashville and Philip (Irene) McPherson of East Leroy, and eleven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; two sisters: Carolyn Grace Weaver and Alberta "Betty" Polson; and her parents. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda D. Stoddard officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Kalamo Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Lifespan-Good Samaritan Hospice Care.
