Irene Lois Isham

Irene Lois Isham Battle Creek Irene Lois (Smith) Isham, 85, of Battle Creek, MI, died Wednesday, September 09, 2009 at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She was born May 11, 1924 in Barry County, MI the daughter of Richard H. Smith and Florence A. (Norton) Smith. Irene was a 1943 graduate of Delton High School and then graduated from the LaMar Beauty Academy in 1944. She was the owner of "Irene's Beauty Shop" until 1961 and then was a beautician at the "Alma Ell Beauty Shop" until 1973. Irene is survived by son: James (Judy) Isham of Hurst, TX; sister: Mildred Mott of Winter Haven, FL; granddaughters: Amy Isham of Hurst, TX and Heather Walley of Hurst, TX; grandson: Gary Allen Isham of Battle Creek, MI; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Kenneth Isham; and sons: Larry Isham (1961) and Gary Isham (1980). Irene was a member of the Central Christian Church since 1957 where she was active in Fa-Ho-Lo Class, the Lydia Class and sang in the Choir for 36 yrs. She enjoyed music, crocheting, reading, bowling, and oil painting. Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Friday, September 11, 2009, 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with Pastor Gordon Pippin of Central Christian Church officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI. In Lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Central Christian Church or the Calhoun County Activities Fund.
