Richard Herbert Leiter, 83, of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Bronson Battle Creek.

Richard was born April 30, 1930, in Battle Creek, the son of Herbert L. and Nila (Kettle) Leiter.  He proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force.

Richard worked for Clark Equipment for 30 years before becoming President and Owner of Modern Material Handling Equipment in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Richard was a member of the Battle Creek chapter of the F & A.M.

He loved planes and was an experienced pilot.  Richard enjoyed fishing, traveling, yard work and watching football.

Richard is survived by his children, Lorraine (Rob) Hollandsworth of St. Charles, IL; Michael (Rita) Leiter of Franklin, TN; step-children, Jeff (Debbie) Hoffman of Long Grove, IL, Glenn (Linda) Hoffman of Morgantown, PA, Gregg Hoffman of Augusta, MI, Lynn Hoffman of Battle Creek and former spouses, Ardith Beauchamp of Carol Stream, IL and Phyllis Leiter of Augusta, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Leiter and brother, Kerwin Leiter.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Shaw Funeral Home, 2838 Capital Avenue, S.W. with a Memorial Services following at 11:00 a.m.

Interment, Fort Custer National Cemetery with full military honors.

Memorial donations may go to Michigan Cancer Foundation

The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home.
