Robert Palmer Obituary

Robert P. Palmer Olivet Robert P. Palmer, age 69 of Olivet, MI, died Thursday, March 15, 2012 at his residence after an extended illness. Bob was born October 24, 1942 in Allegan, MI the son of Woodrow and Genieve (Farnum) Palmer and had been an Olivet resident since the early 1980's. He was a 1960 Graduate of Allegan High School, attended Western Michigan University and served in the U. S. Air Force from 1961-1965. He was a retired accountant having served 10 years as assistant Olivet City Clerk. He was currently a member of the Olivet City Council with 8 years of service, was Mayor Pro-Tem of the Council and was the City Water-Sewer Commissioner. He was a member of the ACME (American Coffee Mill Enthusiasts). Surviving are: his wife, Rebecca (Garrow) Palmer; his sister, Vicki (Robert) Rehkopf of Grand Rapids; niece, Angie Rehkopf; step-children, Jeff (Carmen) Perry of Hastings, John (Bethany) Perry of Bellevue and Laura (Jason) Norton of Bellevue; and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Candice Palmer. Memorial visitation will take place on Monday, March 19, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte, MI. Graveside services and inurnment with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI with Rev. Jack Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to the Olivet Memorial Tree Fund, the Olivet Park Renovation Project or the Larry Dailey Memorial Fund through the Olivet Fire Department.
