Scott Robinson Obituary

Scott Neal Robinson

Kalamazoo

Scott Neal Robinson, 48, of Kalamazoo, died on Saturday, June 13, 2015.

Scott was born on January 13, 1967 in Marshall to Larry and Debbie (Dawson) Robinson. His childhood was spent in Marshall where he attended Marshall schools.

Scott was a gifted athlete who excelled in football, wrestling and track, where he still holds the school 440 Relay record.

His love of the outdoors started as a child and grew in to a life long passion for nature and conservation. He loved fishing and would organize fishing expeditions for his friends in middle school and expanded that entrepreneurial spirit in high school by organizing hunting excursions. Scott shared that desire for the land and water with his children and was happiest when he could spend time with them fishing, boating, hunting or simply watching the turkeys from his deck admiring God's creation.

Scott graduated from Marshall High School in 1985 and then Western Michigan University where he received a Bachelor's of Communication.

He has lived in the Kalamazoo area for the past 30 years. In 1990, Scott founded Scott Robinson Waterfowl Specialists and has worked as an outfitter in Michigan and Missouri successfully guiding clients for the past 25 years. Scott's work was recognized by numerous organizations. Highlights include being designated Cabela's only sponsored Snowgoose outfitter, being a Certified Outfitter with HuntTheNorth.com and the Outdoor Channel, and a featured expert in magazines such as Outdoor Life and Duck's Unlimited. In addition to his guide business, Scott formerly co-owned and operated the Corner Bar and Grill in Kalamazoo. He was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Paul and Glee Ellen Robinson and Neal and Elaine Dawson.

He is survived by his children, Austin, Aidan and Alivia, and their mother, Stacey Lovett; his parents Larry and Debbie Robinson; his sister, Kristi (David) Tuck; his nieces: Emma, Kiri and Nina; his nephew, Jack; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will greet friends and share memories on Monday, June 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Craig K. Kempf Family Funeral Home, Marshall.

A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 23, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Carolyn Robinson Fisher officiating.

The family prefers that people remember Scott with a contribution to the Scott Robinson Children's Fund. Assistance with contributions is available at  Kempf Family Funeral Home.
