Betty Preyer Obituary

Mrs. Betty (Harbour) Preyer of Mountain Home, passed away March 29, 2024.

She was born Jan. 25, 1930, in Eutaw, Alabama, to William and Catherine (Thomas) Harbour. She moved to Oregon with her family when she was three years old growing up in Glendale, Oregon, until she met Jim who took her to Arkansas.

With her husband, Jim, she owned and operated Standard Supply Company spending 50 years working beside Jim as the bookkeeper and "the lady plumber." Her specialty was faucet repair and finding parts.

She received the bowling award as a 50-year member of the Mountain Home Women's League. The week before the banquet she bowled a 199! Not only was Betty a bowling enthusiast, she also played volleyball and softball. She won numerous awards and was often on special tournament teams. She has hardly missed a Razorback football, basketball, or baseball game in many years. As a Cubs fan, she could spout off statistics that amazed everyone.

She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church singing in the choir until her late 80s. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution and provided many donations through her church and organizations to those in need. She was also an excellent seamstress making clothes, quilts and baby blankets for family and friends.

Mrs. Preyer is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Preyer; her parents, William and Catherine Harbour; her sisters, Esther (Glen) Kafer and Doll (Pete) Taylor; and her brothers, Donald Harbour, and John Harbour.

She is survived by her four children, Catherine Conte, Talmon (Jennifer) Preyer, Rebecca Preyer, and Kristi Preyer (Scott Licktieg); five grandchildren, five great=grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, cousins, their families and many friends.

Services will be provided by Roller Funeral Home on Friday, April 5, 2024, with visitation noon to 2 pm, a funeral at 2 p.m. with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Officiating will be Coach Bill Hughes.

Donations may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or a charity of choice.

Ms. Betty was always a joy with which to visit. She was a student of history and genealogy and knew much of the area. She was wise and pleasant to be around. My condolences to her lovely family. Heaven most definitely gained another angel on Good Friday.
