Billy Dix Obituary

Billy Ray Dix, 81, of Flippin, Arkansas, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, in Sherwood, Arkansas.

He was born March 10, 1944, in Spiro, Oklahoma, to Arnold and Odell (Birchfield) Dix. Billy was a Vietnam veteran serving two tours. He received the Silver Star and a Purple Heart. Billy also worked in Civil Service for eight years after his military service.

He was a golfer and a fisherman. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to Pensacola Beach with his wife Rita every year.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Billy is survived by his wife, Rita Dix of Flippin, Arkansas; children Daniel (Jennifer) Dix of Burnsville, Minnesota, Amy (Shawn) Hanson of Lakeland, Florida, and Billy Dix of Germany; stepchildren Valerie Valdez, Mike (Karen) Bunch of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Bridget (Scott) Weaver of Noble, Oklahoma, and Kimberly (Scott) Weaver of Middleburgh, Oklahoma; two brothers, Sherman (Peggy) Dix of Stigler, Oklahoma, and Joe (Linda) Dix of Arkhoma, Oklahoma; a sister, Sue (Bob) Marion of Cantonment, Florida; two grandchildren; six step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many more family and friends.

A graveside burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Fort Smith National Cemetery.
