Carolyn Oldham Obituary

Carolyn Cherry Oldham, 74

Carolyn Cherry Oldham, age 74, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away Sunday evening, July 28, 2013, at her residence. She was the loving wife of Wesley Oldham for 26 years. She was the mother of four children: Christie Schultz of Anchorage, Alaska, Bettie Wilkinson of Pocola, Oklahoma, Marcia Day of Detroit, Michigan and William (Billy) Wilkinson, deceased.

She was also preceded in death by her father Glenn H. Cherry, sister Marcella (Sunny), her stepfather Hartley Jackson and a grandson John Frederick Schultz, Jr. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Diane Oldham, and a niece Sue Buczkowicz. Her mother, Bettie Jackson, lives in El Paso, Texas.

Born in Pecos, Texas, on February 10, 1939, to Glenn and Bettie Anderson Cherry, she grew up in El Paso. Although she lived in Arkansas for over 40 years, she always held a love in her heart for the desert of Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. Carolyn was a retired U.S. Postmaster, having proudly served in the Henderson, Arkansas Post Office for over 22 years.

Carolyn was an artist who worked in fibers, collage, and mixed media. She was privileged to be associated with many fine artists in our community. She formed close friendships with many of them. Some of her best times were working in her studio with other artists and just having "Play Days". Carolyn will be remembered as a person who spoke her mind, who loved those around her, and as someone whose word was her bond. She was a lover of good music. She was an accomplished cook who always sought new recipes to try. She was a unique blend of intelligence, beauty, humor and compassion.

A Memorial Service will be Friday, August 2, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. in the Roller Funeral Home Chapel with the family receiving friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to the Baxter County Library. Visit our online guestbook at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com.
