Gene Tunney Knotts

Lakeview, Arkansas - Gene Tunney Knotts of Lakeview, Arkansas, passed away December 11, 2020, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 92. He was born December 1, 1928, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, the son of Mac and Amanda Knotts. Gene married Peggy Jones on April 18, 1956. He worked for General Motors for over 38 years. Gene was a U.S. Army veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart in 1951, for his action and courage in the line of duty during the Korean War. He was proud to be an American and he honored his country's flag and always had one flying in his yard. Gene was a member of the VFW, The Purple Heart Club and the American Legion. He and Peggy moved to Lakeview in 1985. Gene enjoyed hunting and fishing and working in his vegetable garden especially growing gourds to paint and display in his workshop.

Gene is survived by his wife of 64 years, Peggy Knotts of Lakeview, AR as well as a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.

Services will be private.
