Maurice Dorethy Obituary
He was born March 24, 1928, in Macomb, Illinois, the son of Isaac Lewis and Parmelia Catherine (Cordell) Dorethy.
Jack married Donna R. Webb on September 8, 1948, in Keokuk, Iowa. Jack prided himself in working hard and providing well for his family. He worked at CommonWealth Edison for 15 years before moving his family to Lakeview, Arkansas in 1965 to own and operate Waterfront Resort. Later he opened Mid-Lakes Realty and was first Vice-President of Webb Brother Development Company, Inc. He was instrumental in developing 17 subdivisions in Baxter and Marion counties, including Webbs Landing.
Jack enjoyed traveling with his wife. They visited all 50 states along with many countries. Jack and his family spent many weekends camping. When he and Donna became empty nesters, they started spending winters in Florida where they spent their days fishing and evenings playing cards and visiting with friends from all over the US and Canada. Jack enjoyed walking, hunting, and watching the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Jack leaves behind three daughters, Janice (Orville) Mears of Flippin, Arkansas, Jackie (Ken) Duncan of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Joyce (Tim) Ringdahl of O'Fallon, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Wendy Stewart, Melissa (Scott) White, Ashley (Edna) Mears, Ryan (Gentry) Duncan, Corey Duncan, Shannon (Logan) Baker, Allison (Tyler) Harris, Matthew (Sara) Ringdahl, and Christopher Ringdahl; 22 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Donna; five sisters; three brothers; a great-granddaughter, Allsion Mears; and his parents.
A celebration of life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church in Mountain Home, with the Rev. Daniel Thueson officiating. Burial will be in the Baxter Memorial Gardens.
