Billy Gene Johnson (86) died on July 24, 2013 after a long illness. He was born December 19, 1926 in Mexia, Texas. At the end of World War II he served with the U.S. Army in Germany where he met the love of his life, Fraulein Edith Fűrst. In 1947 they were married in Dallas, but made their life-long home together in the Houston area. Bill made a career in the grocery business being in business for himself and working for various supermarket chains. Bill retired from Kroger in 1987. His fellow employees recognized him for his strong work ethic and had a long- lasting respect for his integrity. Granddad loved his family and he loved life. His family was his life. His favorite times were when his family came to visit. Bill and Edith loved being surrounded by all their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren during the holidays in their home. We will miss his smile and gentle ways, but his memory and our love for him will live on in our hearts forever.
