CLARENCE HODGE M.D.

Clarence was born in Riverside, CA on September 16, 1927. He passed away on November 16, 2014, in Clovis, CA. He graduated from Fresno High School in 1945, after which he joined the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946. He attended Fresno State College and was accepted at the George Washington University of Medicine where he obtained his medical degree in 1957. His internship and residency was at the Fresno County Hospital. He practiced briefly in Merced and finished a degree in anesthesiology following his residency at University of California, Los Angeles. He practiced with the Fresno Anesthesia Group at various Fresno hospitals before he began full time with Saint Agnes Hospital in Fresno, from which he retired in 1989. His hobbies varied and included belonging to the Fresno-Madera Ham Radio Club; he was a licensed pilot; a licensed building contractor; and a partner in the Clayton Hodge Construction Company. He was a member of the Fresno Madera Medical Society. He is preceded in death by his parents, Verne and Ruby Hodge. He is survived by Jean his wife of 68 years; his daughters, Linda LaMontagne and her husband William of Clovis, and Lynn Lewis and her husband Mark of Bakersfield; a sister, Jeri Rainey of Little Rock, AR; a granddaughter, Michelle Loel and her husband Grant; and two grandsons, Onnis Newell and Nathan Newell; a great-granddaugher, Ashlyn Loel; and two nieces. Visitation will be held at Boice Funeral Home on Thursday, November 20, 2014, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. There will be a Private Graveside Service for family. A Memorial Service will be held at New Hope Community Church, 4620 E. Nees Ave. Clovis, CA on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. A breakfast reception will follow the memorial service.
