David Jackson Griffith

David Jackson Griffith passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012 in League City,Texas after a long illness with Lewy Body Dementia. Dave was born August 9, 1939 in Baker, Florida to Mancle & Effie Griffith. He was the youngest of 7 children: Mary Ethel Sasser (Niceville, Fl), Don Griffith (Baker, Fl), Dorothy Lewis (Brewton, Al), Helen Whitfield (Collinsville, Ok), Wendell Griffith (deceased) and Douglas Griffith (deceased). Dave married his college sweetheart in 1960 and after graduating from Troy State University, taught school one year in Jacksonville, Fl., worked as a engineer at NASA for 4 1/2 years and then became a State Farm Insurance Agent in Nassau Bay,Texas (1972) for the next 34 years. Dave served as a Councilman for the City of Nassau Bay from 1984-1991. He was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Friendswood and served as President of the congregation and as a Sunday school teacher several years. He was on the WELS Board of Trustees for ten years. Dave's life was centered around his church, his family and his work. Dave and Arlene were married 52 years and were the proud parents of three children. Robin & husband Robert Jones (Spring, Tx.), David & wife Missy (Chicago, Il.), Peter & wife Anne (Lubbock, Tx.) Dave loved and enjoyed his eight grandchildren who called him DaTa -- Jack, Simon, Andrew, Peter, Libby, Samuel, Madison & Alexis. The Memorial Service will be held at 10 am, Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 4425 F.M. 2351, Friendswood,Texas 77546. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to support our Medical Missionaries in Zambia& Malawi Africa. Checks made payable to 'Lord of Life'. Dave will be missed so much by his loving family & friends.
