Dixie Helene Sale Jircik, 85, of Alvin, TX passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 leaving behind a loving family and many friends.
Dixie was born in Bogata, TX to Addie and Luther Sale on April 1, 1930. She was raised in Mt. Pleasant, TX and attended Kilgore Jr. College. After a career in Houston as a CPA executive secretary, she married Jerry Jircik in 1971 and moved to Alvin. She joined her husband and step-son David in the family business, Wellborn's Department Store where her fashion advice and style were highly regarded.
She was active in many community activities and organizations including the Aglaian Study Club, AAUW, Alvin Library League, Beta Sigma Phi and served on the Alvin Community College Foundation. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and contributed her needlepoint skills for the beautification of the altar kneelers.
Dixie was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her parents Addie and Luther Sale and her sister Esther Chance.
She is survived by her brother Bill Sale and wife Carol of Vero Beach, FL; step daughters, Sandra Pickett and husband Ed of Liberty, and Barbara Schlattman and husband Rusty of Houston; step sons, Jan Jircik and wife Yvette of Houston, and David Jircik and wife Gayle of Friendswood; three step grandchildren, Reagan Jircik and wife Crystal, Will Jircik and Jaclyn Jircik; two great grandchildren, Madison and Gunnar; special extended family members Rachel Inman, Liza Morris, and Kasia Del Rio; and many other relatives and cherished friends.
Many good friends including Brenda Brown, Rebecca Hernandez, and Gay Williams cheered Dixie during her illness.
Dixie's family wishes to acknowledge and express their sincere gratitude for the love and friendship extended to Dixie by her dear friends and the kindness of caregivers, AMED Hospice and Loving Care.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grace Episcopal Church, 200 W. Lang St., Alvin, TX 77511 with The Rev. David Price officiating.
