LARRY CLOYD Obituary

Larry Milton Cloyd, 82, passed away peacefully at home and surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 14, 2015, in Seabrook, Texas. Larry was born on September 26, 1933, the son of Gaylord Milton & Flossie Emeline Cloyd, in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Larry had a unique quick wit, great sense of humor and was known as a master storyteller amongst his family and friends. He launched a successful career in aeronautics working as a technical writer for the historical Apollo Spacecraft Program at the NASA White Sands Test Facility, in Las Cruces, New Mexico from 1961 to 1963. In 1964, Larry and his family moved to Florida, where he worked for the North American Rockwell Corporation, as a member of the Technical Staff for 17 Apollo Missions at the Kennedy Space Center. In 1973, Rockwell International (Boeing) transferred Larry to the Space Transportation Systems Division in Houston to commence work on the Space Shuttle Program at Johnson Space Center in Clear Lake City, Texas, where he worked until his retirement in 1990. Not only did Larry shoot for the stars, his talent and skills helped mankind land on the moon.

Larry is preceded in death by father, Gaylord Cloyd, mother, Flossie Cloyd, and two sisters, Imogene 'Jean' Schuster and Judith Cloyd.

Larry is survived by loving wife, Phyllis 'Jean' Cloyd, beloved children and spouses, Connie (Walt) Chatham and Roger (Barbara) Cloyd of Grass Valley, CA., Alan (Mary) Cloyd of Lake Tapps, WA., Jay Bizego of Fort Worth, TX., Melody Bizego of Katy, TX., and 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

"Think where man's glory most begins and ends and say - my glory was that I had such friends." - W.B. Yeats
