I only learned about Scott's death today and want to extend my belated condolences to his family and friends. I was a friend of his and Mike's during their years at Texas A&M. Though I haven't seen Scott since we graduated, he occasionally sent wonderful holiday cards of his family and took the time to write an incredibly heartfelt letter to me after my own brother died 15 years ago. I'll always remember Scott as fun-loving, a devoted family man, and a huge ZZ Top fan! My heartfelt condolences go out to his wife, Ann, his four children, his brother, Michael, and his entire circle of family and friends. He is sorely missed.

Dear Michael and Cragin Family,
As only a younger brother would know, it was a rare privilege to have known if only briefly your brother in his prime and it is exactly how I choose to remember him. Your entire family and Scott's are in my prayers.

My sincere sympathies. I am so sorry I was not able to attend the memorial service. Scott coached my son, and I taught his daughter. It obvious through even the most casual contact with him or his family that he was a great man and a great father.

Our sincere condolences to the Cragin family.
I had only recently come to know Scott. On a flight back from the Men's NCAA Championships in March, he took the time introduce himself at the gate and then during our flight, he wrote me a letter thanking me for supporting Cole's efforts over the last few years.
As we got off the plane, he quietly passed to me the note he had written, patted me on the back, smiled and walked away.
That letter was genuine and clearly written from his heart. It simply, yet eloquently, expressed a parents pride and love for their son and gratitude to someone who took an interest in their efforts.
In 37 years of being involved in swimming, it was easily one of the most thoughtful and special gestures I have ever received. I remember calling my wife from the car to tell her how much that meant to me that he took the time to thank me in that way.
I had been looking forward to personally thanking Scott for that gesture in person at the Olympic Trials. I am so very sad that I was unable have the opportunity to reciprocate his kindness. So to Cole and the Cragin family, Scott made an immediate, lasting impact on me with one simple kind gesture and I hope that I can use him as a lasting example to do the same for others.
Be strong and know that his smile and light live on in each of you.

I had the honor of living across the street from the Cragins back when they lived in Seabrook. I was the babysitter for all 4 of his sweet kids. Scott sure loved his family and was always so kind and caring. I am shocked and saddened by the news. I'm so sorry for your loss. Love, hugs, thoughts, and prayers go out to Ann, Cole, Rachel, Mike, and Sarah.

Dear Ann and all of Scott's Family. Please know that you have our deepest sympathies and are in our prayers. I worked for Scott more than 30 years ago. He was such a transformational person. I think his hallmark was the way he taught so many young people who came to work for him how to respect and start believing in themselves. It was amazing to watch him as he had such a profound impact on the young people of Galveston County long ago and I imagine he did the same in Houston.

Cragin Family: I am very sorry to hear of Scott's passing. I hadn't seen Scott since college when I stopped in at the Cafe Adobe several years ago in Webster and saw both Scott and his Dad - it was great talking old times about LaMarque and TAMU. I have great memories of our golf games at Twin Lakes CC and basketball games with the 1st Baptist Church youth team - neither of us went there, but sure enjoyed the fun and fellowship of the team and the church. Rest in peace old friend.

We only had the privilege of seeing Scott a few times each year, but he was always a delight. Nick liked to discuss the restaurant business, Sheryl liked to discuss cooking, and we both liked to hear an update on his great kids. We will miss Scott but treasure the memories of our times together. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ann and the family.

"Just Get the Ball to Scott"
In high school Scott joined our church basketball team and led us to the state playoffs. When the season started, Coach would draw out plays on his clipboard and four out of five of us wouldn't have a clue. He finally put his clipboard down and said "just get the ball to Scott."
Scott has been the go to guy his whole life and I know his legacy will live on with his talented children.
My deepest sympathy to all the Cragin clan.
