Thomas Andrew Smola, 77, of Friendswood, TX passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. He was born May 31, 1939 to Andrew Smola and Elizabeth Minnery Smola in Cleveland, OH and was an only child. He graduated from Benedictine High School in Cleveland, OH in 1957.
He married Patricia Ann Brody on October 6, 1962 and together they raised 4 children, 1 son and 3 daughters. He is a retired Naval Chief Petty Officer/Disable Vietnam Veteran and a retired Houston Police Officer/Communications Division. He was an avid historical reader, built numerous model ships, model trains and complex train layouts.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
He is survived by his son Tony Smola and his wife Meg, their children Robert Smola, Ruby Smola and Isabelle Smola; daughter Sharon Boddie and her husband David, their sons, Blayde Boddie and Zayne Boddie; daughter Julie Lambert and her husband Jay, their daughter Jenna Lambert; daughter Debbie Harper and her husband Steve, her daughters, Emily Kneisler, Elayna Kneisler and Elyssa Kneisler; and many other relatives and cherished friends.
Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. with a memorial mass to follow at 10:00 A.M. at the Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 with Rev. James H. Kuczynski, M.S. officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) at dav.org.
