Cristian A. Zook

GREENWOOD - Cristian (Crist) A. Zook of Greenwood, entered heaven on June 21, 2016. He was born in Dover, on March 4, 1936 to Amos and Mollie (Byler) Zook. As a boy, Crist moved to Stuarts Draft, Va. with his family. He later served in 1-W civilian service at the Norristown (Pa.) State Hospital from 1957-1959. On March 29, 1962 he married Irene Miller. Crist and Irene then moved to Greenwood, where they raised their three children and served faithfully at the Greenwood Mennonite Church. Crist joined Irene in heaven after selflessly caring for her until her passing earlier this year. He leaves to cherish his memory their children, Brenda (Mukanda) Mbualungu, Brian (Rebekah) Zook, Anna (Travis) Carter; and grandchildren, Mukanda "Junior" Mbualungu, Olivia Mbualungu, Charro Ngongo, Aiden Zook, Caleb Zook, Ransom Zook and Sadie Carter. Also remembering are Crist's two sisters, three brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and their families: Mary Jane (Leroy) Beachy, Katie Troyer, Amos Schrock, Alva Miller, Raymond Miller, Esther Zook, and Vera Zook. Crist joined his parents; siblings, Lydia Schrock, Florence Miller, Barbara Miller, Henry Zook, and Allen Zook; and brothers-in-law, Eli Miller and Edward Troyer who awaited him in heaven. His love of woodworking developed while watching and helping his grandfather and father on the family farm. In 1974, he founded Del-Wood Cabinets, in Greenwood, which he owned and operated for 40 years. Crist also enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, bluegrass music, church and community events, breakfast or coffee with friends, and a good conversation. His family would like to extend sincere gratitude to all the friends who visited, called and encouraged Crist, and to the medical staff who contributed to his care this year. Visiting hours will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Greenwood Mennonite Church. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2016, also at the Greenwood Mennonite Church.
