Frances "Pat" Marvel

DOVER - Frances "Pat" Marvel, 92, of Dover, died Oct. 25, 2011, at The Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Oct. 2, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John Patric and Frances Kelly Wherrity. Mrs. Marvel had worked as Administrative Assistant for the Delaware State Fire School for over 13 years. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, and the Modern Maturity Center, and offered much of her time doing volunteer work. In her quieter moments, she loved tending to her garden of flowers. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched. Besides her parents, Mrs. Marvel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ben Marvel, in October 1985, as well as eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by two loving sons, David Marvel and wife Linda of Milford, and Richard Marvel and wife Glenda of Dover; one sister, Clare McLaughlin of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Michael Marvel of Pennsylvania, Richard Marvel of Harrington, Dee Ann Mason of Felton, Benjamin Marvel of Dover, and Marcie Holmes of Mendham, N.J.; ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at Holy Cross Church, 631 South State Street, Dover. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
