James Dare Obituary

FREDERICA - James C. Dare passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital. Mr. Dare was born in Quantico, Va., to the late James H. and Charlotte M. Dare, Sr.
Mr. Dare served his country proudly in the United States Navy. He worked for the Delaware State Police, communications department right after high school. For the past 40 years, Mr. Dare was a commercial waterman oftentimes leaving out of the Bowers Beach/Slaughter Beach area. He truly loved being out on the water.
When he was not on the water, Mr. Dare enjoyed being in the mountains. He enjoyed mountain climbing and enjoyed playing his guitar. For almost 12 years, he served as a lay preacher for the Saxton United Methodist Church of Frederica, and was a committed supporter of 88.7 The Bridge radio station. Every year he looked forward to taking his entire family, and anyone else that wanted to go, to the Christian concert put on by The Bridge at the Delaware State Fair. He truly loved his family and loved spending time with his grandkids and taking them fishing. He was also a great story teller and everyone listened intently when he spoke.
Mr. Dare will be remembered as a very honorable, respectful, straight forward gentleman with high standards and morals. He vigorously passed along these traits to his children and grandchildren, as well as his religious beliefs. He will be remembered as being very considerate, kindhearted, and would help anybody in need. He will be sorely missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Dare.
He leaves behind to cherish his legacy, his wife of almost 30 years, Rhonda S. Dare; his children, Amy N. Marple (fiancé, Timothy Archer), Darcie T. (Michael) Taylor, James T. Dare (fiancée, Veronica Thorpe), Mark Ian Dare (fiancée, Katie Ray), Corey Dare, Keriann L. Dare (fiancé, Michael Killen), Cristal Creel; siblings, Patrick K. Dare, Michael K. (Neng) Dare, Francis M. (Florence) Dare, Sean J. Dare, Kelly P. Dare, Brian T. (Karen) Dare, Theresa L. Walters, Sharon F. Marple; six grandsons; and two granddaughters.
Services will take place on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, at 3 p.m., with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be private.

May the God of all comfort strengthen the family during this time of deep sorrow. Those who pass on, God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. My sincerest condolences. Psalms 116:15
