Joan Marie "Krauss" Mahan passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, in Dover. Joan was born on May 31, 1934, in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Mabel and Harry Krauss.
In her early years, Joan enjoyed acting. She considered herself "artsy fartsy" and enjoyed spending her time doing crafts such as crocheting, ceramics and sewing. Joan was also an excellent cook and she loved to bake. She loved to bring family and friends together. Joan was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Camden.
In addition to her parents; Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harry D. Mahan; and sister, Delores Pyle.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Deb Missell and partner Donovan Magnus of Felton; her son, H. David Mahan, Jr. of Millsboro; and daughter, Kim Cornish and husband Griff of Earleville, MD; sister, Beverly Pawley; grandchildren, Emily Cornish; Heather Deputy, Melissa Baker, Rachael Cooper; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover. The viewing will begin at 11am. The burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
