Michael and Katherine
MILLSBORO - Katherine Kelleher Uzzo and Michael Lawrence Uzzo of Millsboro, DE, passed away together on August 7, 2023, at the age of 92. It is an eternal love story signified by 67 years of marriage and their passing just 16 hours apart surrounded by family.
Katherine was kind-hearted, selfless and a wonderful mother. She was known for her beautiful soul and loving nature. Michael was an amazing provider, father, and the ultimate family man. He was the pillar of strength and the patriarch of the family. Both Katherine and Michael were devout Catholics.
Katherine and Michael are survived by their children, Michael (wife Mari), Peter, Mark, Betsy (husband Dale), and Clare, along with their grandchildren, Michael, Amy, Andrew, CJ, Christina, Kimberly, Kelley, Kasey, Alex, and Mark. They also leave behind their great-grandchildren, Micaela, Mia, Mickenzie, Kennedy, Josie, Giuliana and Luke. They were preceded in death by Michael's parents, Frank and Rose Uzzo, his sister Cathey, as well as Katherine's parents, Joseph and Madalyn, and her brothers, Fred (living), Bob, and Joe.
In terms of education, Michael attended Wilmington High School and LaSalle University, while Katherine attended Ursuline Academy and the University of Pennsylvania. Michael served in the US Air Force for four years, showcasing his dedication and commitment to his country.
Michael's career spanned over 50 years as a career concrete salesman for Maloney Concrete and Wyoming Concrete Industries. Katherine worked as a dental hygienist before dedicating herself to being a stay-at-home mom.
The Uzzo family worshiped at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Gaithersburg, MD, and later at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover, DE. Religion played an important role in their lives.
In their free time, Michael enjoyed playing golf, while Katherine found solace and fulfillment in at-tending daily mass.
Katherine and Michael Uzzo were cherished parents, grandparents and truly touched so many people's lives. They were role models for their children and the community who will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing them. Their love for each other knows no boundaries. They will be sorely missed. May their souls rest together in peace.
A mass was held at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church 535 Riverside Dr., Salisbury, MD 21801, on Saturday August 12, 2023 at 11:00 am. A public viewing was held one hour prior.
