MILFORD - Richard M. "Rick" Hazzard went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 16, 2023, at Bayhealth, Sussex Campus in Milford.
Richard was born in Milford, the son of the late Walter B. and Jean (Webb) Hazzard.
Rick served in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a production manager for NCR, Vice-President for M&T Bank, a security manager for Long Neck Peninsula from 2004-2010 and a host at Chick-Fil A from 2016 to the present.
He attended the United Church. He enjoyed woodworking, yardwork, and crossword puzzles.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded by his son, Richard B. Hazzard; and brothers, Dennis and Roy Hazzard.
Rick is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carla (Rust) Hazzard; son, Robert E. Hazzard; siblings, Walter W. Hazzard, A. Dean and Margy and Jill Cohee; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at 2 pm in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, DE, where friends may call after 12 pm. Burial will be at Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Carlisle Vol. Fire Co., 615 NW Front St., Milford, DE 19963.

Deepest sympathies on Rick's passing. Hoping warm memories keep him close to your heart every day.

When I transferred down here to work for the bank, I always remembered Rick smiling as he navigated through his day. What a positive impact to other employees!

My heart breaks for you, and I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers during such an emotional time.

Sorry to hear you lost your husband. My Mom, Great Niece and I had the chance to chat with him at Chick-Fil-A a while back. I introduced myself to him stating that I went to school with you. It was nice to meet him and chat with him. He is such a nice man. I know Chick-Fil-A will miss him. I'm sending prayers for you and your family.

Carla our heart-felt condolences for your loved ones passing on to eternal life. There are also those inspiring individuals who are such amazing human beings such as Rick was. His legacy not only speaks for itself, but within us all-as well as those who knew him well and shared some powerful words & thoughts, also knew what loving and inspirational being he was. A visionary leader himself and in also creating an extra-ordinary life on his own terms too, his milestones of life and work was filled in doing with human compassion and those gifts -in giving of humanity's best. We know that his mission on Earth has also been well completed, and his way back home to those heavenly gardens with our Creator awaits for him with open arms. May these days ahead be filled with comfort, spiritual light, and that healing during this loss but, heavens gain too. We know Rick will always be guiding you-as those footprints in the sand.
