William "Bill" T. Windsor passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Bayhealth Medical Center.
Bill was born May 15, 1937, in Piscataway, Maryland, to the late Thomas and Rena Windsor.
Bill was preceded in death by son, Jess; grandson, Jonathan; brothers; Thomas, John and Benny; and sister, Debra.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, JoAnn; sons, Jay (Sharon) and Scott (Vicki); daughter-in-law, Peggy (Jess's wife); grandsons, Zach and Josh; granddaughters, Bree, Lauren, Samantha, Katie and Krystal; great granddaughters, Freyja and Madinia; great grandsons, Ronin and Tyr; brother, Ernest; and sisters, Mary, Joan and Nina.
Bill graduated from Clinton High School in 1955 and joined the Air Force soon after graduation. During Bill's time in the service, he was stationed in France; Wurtsmith AFB, Michigan; Lockborne AFB, Ohio; Andersen AFB, Guam; McGuire AFB, New Jersey; Clark AB, Philippines, Korat AB, Thailand and Dover AFB, Delaware. Bill also traveled to many countries across the world including Saudi Arabia, Iran, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Germany, England, France, and Italy. Bill was a jet engine mechanic for various aircraft including F-100s, B-52s, KC-135s. Bill went on to be a flight engineer on C-130s, C-141s and C-5s. Bill's Air Force career spanned 24 years, obtaining the rank of TSgt and retiring in October 1978. After retirement, Bill attended Delaware Technical and Community College (DTCC) where he received an Associate's Degree in Engineering. After graduating DTCC, Bill worked for the Civil Service at Dover AFB as a contract inspector and then later as a maintenance mechanic until he retired in January 1996.
Bill's passion during retirement was spending time with his family; and he especially enjoyed traveling with his wife. Bill also designed and built out buildings, furniture and toys in his spare time. Bill always liked to keep busy and was willing to assist any of his family and friends who were in need.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover, DE. Friends may call from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Burial will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Delaware.
