ELGIN - Helen A. Prostko, born February 3rd, 1954, passed away Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, in Elgin under the care of Unity Hospice.
She was born in Spring Valley, Illinois to Walter A. Prostko and Lucille (Schindel) Prostko. Having graduated from Princeton Township High School in 1972, she began her work history at Champion Pneumatic, Princeton, Illinois, before moving to Lisle, Illinois. She then worked for Chicago Blower where she met her significant other, Jose L. "Joe" Gaytan. In 1979, she and Joe moved to Houston, Texas, where she worked for Darcy Marius Advertising Agency. She moved back to Illinois in 1988 where she worked for the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the American Society of Dermatological Surgeons. She most recently worked for Metropolitan Title Agency in Rockford, Illinois.
Helen enjoyed gardening, bowling, flower arranging and taking care of her puppies. She loved traveling for work and with family.
She is survived by her significant othe,r Joe Gaytan of Elgin, Illinois; stepdaughter, Jennifer Gaytan of Cape Coral, Florida; two sisters, Phyllis (John) Tobias 0f Rockford, Illinois, and Florence Prostko and her significant other Jim Verstraete; one brother, Walt (Debbie) Prostko, of Princeton, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Walter A. Prostko and Lucille I. Prostko.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 3rd, 2021, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments in Princeton, Illinois. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 at St. Louis Catholic Church, officiated by Monsignor Frank Kruse.
