Wyanet - James K. Jackson, known to many as Jim, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at the Citadel Nursing Home in Sterling, Illinois, surrounded by his loving family. He was 71 years old.
Born on June 9, 1953, in Spring Valley, Illinois, Jim was the son of the late Burton and Marguerite (Mussatti) Jackson. Throughout his life, Jim was a man of many passions and talents, always finding joy in the simple yet profound pleasures of life.
Jim had a deep love for photography, capturing the world around him wherever he went. His camera was a constant companion, and his eye for detail brought beauty to even the most ordinary moments. Whether on nature walks, family gatherings, or quiet afternoons, Jim's photos will continue to remind those who knew him of his unique perspective and love for life.
An avid fossil hunter, Jim also developed an impressive collection over the years, with specimens gathered from many different places, especially Bureau County. His passion for uncovering the past and sharing the stories of the Earth's history was a reflection of his inquisitive nature and his desire to learn and grow throughout his life.
Jim's gentle spirit, curiosity, and kind-heartedness touched everyone he met. He leaves behind a legacy of love, passion, and an enduring appreciation for the world around him.
Jim is survived by his siblings, Judy Jacobson of Elk Grove, IL, Connie Benz of Chesapeake, VA, Cindy Welch of Norfolk, VA and Debbie Guiterrez of Norfolk, VA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Burton Jackson and Marguerite Jackson as well as paternal and maternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to the American Cancer Association
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and time.
