Jean Samuelson of Peoria, formerly of Buda, IL, died on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Richard Owen's Hospice Home. She was 91. Jean was born on September 29, 1934, in Dixon, Illinois, the fourth child of Leslie and Vivian (Hope) Coss. She had 1 sister, Helen, and 2 brothers, Glen and Dean. They have preceded her in death. Jean married Wesley Samuelson, of Buda, Illinois, on December 5, 1954. He died on April 12, 2013. They had 2 children, Craig (Debbi) of Western Springs, IL, and Cindy (Kevin) King of Peoria. Jean had 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Jean spent 50 years as a farm wife, gardening, canning, laundry, sewing and caring for her children. She enjoyed her tasks and keeping busy. She also worked for Transamerica Insurance in Princeton, Illinois, for 10 years.
Jean enjoyed crafting in many ways in her free time. She was often found crocheting, knitting, painting, basket weaving, or quilting. Her family is blessed with many beautiful items she made over the years.
Services for Jean will be held on December 30, 2025, at Bethany Church, 7422 N. Heinz Lane, Edwards, Illinois. Visitation will be at 11 a.m., with the funeral following at 12:00. Private interment will be at Hopeland Cemetery in Buda, Illinois.
