Princeton - Judith Ann Nelson, 85 of Princeton, Illinois passed away
peacefully to Heaven to be with the Lord on Wednesday November 30, 2022 . Prior to her passing , she had been in the presence and support of her loving family.
Judith, also known as Judy, was born on September 25, 1937 to the late Harold and Helen (Arnold) Ward in Alton , Illinois. Judy was a graduate of Buda High School and worked at Perry Memorial Hospital as a radiology technician.
She married the late Dick Nelson ( 07-18-2014) on September 1, 1957, sharing 57 years of marriage before Dick's passing. Judith devoted her time as a stay-at-home mother to her three children, Leanne, Laurie and Steve. She was a member of St Matthews Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school in years past and she devoted time and attention in the activities of her three children in their hobbies and sports, family travel, church and weekends at Lake Thunderbird.
Judy is known for her love and devotion to her entire family , which was her greatest joy and pride. She was admired for her kindness, her patience and her unconditional love to all who knew and loved her. Judy devoted herself through life, to support the aspirations of others, especially her children, grandchildren, great grandchild and late husband , Dick. She was a genuine role model for her exceptional patience, devotion and involvement as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Judy's talent extended to works of beautiful art pieces in ceramic, handmade customized note cards and her gift was perfectly revealed to her Judy loved the time spent with her entire family. Judy will kind heart , her humor and admired for her compassion, her patience, her kindness and unconditional love. Judy always generous with her time, her flexibility and understanding.
Judy loved Princeton and giving back was very important to her. Most recently, she contributed to the local Columbus Street Lovejoy Walkway, a beautiful outdoor gathering space in Downtown Princeton. The Princeton Public Arts Committee, City of Princeton, along with local artists led the effort . Upon completion of the project, Judy was honored for her contribution for Making Lovejoy Way possible .Judy and her late husband Dick Nelson valued the community of Princeton and was devoted to community philanthropist projects over recent years. Judy dedicated her time to the Cub Scouts, Bluebirds and Campfire girls organizations when her children were young.
Her greatest joy as a grandmother, was attending her grandchildren's sporting and athletic events, years of enjoying dance, theater and music performances and she experience pure joy in sitting at a table in conversation with her family. Judy was complimented during her years of marriage to her late husband, "Dick," who consistently described Judy as an excellent mother and grandmother. Dick would say there was no more important role in life than the dedication that she showed and modeled to Judy truly loved her pets, both dogs and cats and she demonstrated a
genuine love and appreciation for their companionship and love.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 5th from 4:00-6:00pm. at
Norberg Memorial Home, Inc & Monuments in Princeton, Il. Services for Judy, held on Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 at St. Mathews
Lutheran Church in Princeton at 10:00am. Officiated by Pastor Scott Schmidt. Graveside services to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Princeton, Il.
Judy is survived by her children Leanne (Jeff) Martin, Laurie (Darren) Wallace, Steve(Gina) Nelson, her grandchildren, Nicole Martin, Kelsey Wallace, Colin and Audrey Nelson and a great grandchild Brooklyn Martin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthews Lutheran Church or Tri-County Humane Society.
