Timothy E. Dunavin

ROCK FALLS - Timothy Edward Dunavin, age 83, of Rock Falls, died peacefully in Murray, Utah Thursday, June 5, 2025. Tim was born in Decatur, Illinois, January 27, 1942, the son of Edward Lowell Dunavin and Esther Gwendolyn (Esely) Dunavin.
He graduated from Tiskilwa High School in 1960 and served in the Navy as a sonar technician from 1960-1964. He married Betty June Knepp on November 1, 1964, in Princeton, Illinois. She preceded him in death on July 22, 2017. He later married Charliene Virginia (Hunt) Call on December 5, 2020.
Survivors include his loving wife, a sister, Sister Margaret Mary Dunavin, and children Amy Dunavin (Eric) Albach, Anna Dunavin, Joseph (Rondee) Dunavin, Jim (Laura) Call, Laurel Call (Joseph) Schmidt, Lynette Call (Wayne) Ault, Todd (Zandrea) Call, and Jonathan (Kellie) Call, 30 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, a niece and nephew.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many capacities and especially enjoyed handing out Tootsie Rolls to children of all ages. He led a life of service to family and friends and enjoyed many pastimes that included using his artistic talents in building model trains and planes, and in retirement years, honing his woodworking skills in building World War II replica field equipment. He was a member of the EAA and Warbirds Living History Group and relished opportunities to participate in World War II reenactments and give rides in his 1943 Jeep to anyone and everyone.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Dunavin, a daughter, Elisabeth, his parents, a brother, Thomas Dunavin, and two nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025, 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue, Rock Falls.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, June, 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM with a viewing to be held beforehand 9:00 – 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2709 16th Avenue, Sterling.
Interment will be at Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton with graveside military honors.
A memorial will be established in lieu of flowers.
