Gary Powers Obituary
Gary Powers, 77, went home to the Lord October 6th, 2022. He was born July 2nd, 1945, to Andrew and Victoria (Thivierge) Powers in Utica, NY. After graduating from West Winfield school, he went on to serve his country in the United States Airforce, after which Gary spent many years working for the State of NY at Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center. He then continued his military career in the United States Army in Utica, NY and later in Jacksonville Florida. He retired from the military in 1996 followed by a career at Gateway Community services.
Gary's love was his family and helping others.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Debbie; son Michael; daughter Andrea and her husband Patrick; daughter Sheila; and grandchildren Shaun, Ryan, Lillian, Layla and Eli; brother Charlie and his wife Janet; nephews Scott and Jeff.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00, Wednesday October 12th at Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes research foundation.
A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 Thursday October 13th at Our Lady Star of the Sea, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

I worked for Gary at the Combat Hospital in Florida. He was a great officer! He was a compassionate and caring man. He helped me and others a lot. I´m so sorry he passed before I was able to make contact with him again. I considered him a good friend. My sincere condolences to his family.
