Tony greatly impressed me with his achievements while I grew up playing tennis in Springfield, Ohio. Meeting him at the US Open several years ago meant a lot to me. His college roommate at Univ. Cincinnati, Lowell Storm , is the father of my brother in law, John Storm. I heard so many wonderful stories about Tony & Lowell during college and later in California where Lowell played for the LA Rams. Tony made a difference in so many ways for the sport of tennis and in many people's lives. I felt so honored to meet him. God Bless Him. He was truly a Blessing for us.

In the early 70's, since I played tennis I was designated by the Wolfson High School athletic director as the tennis coach for the Wolfson HS tennis girls team. Not a problem, I at least knew how to keep score. At the first district wide coaches' meeting, I learned that Wolfson was the next in rotation to organize and host the district play-off tournament at the end of the season. I was a Language Arts teacher; I had no idea how to run a tournament. Fortunately for me, Tony Trabert's name was mentioned. When I contacted him pleading for help, I did not expect him to actually offer to run the tournament himself. He did just that! I will be forever grateful for his kindness, understanding and firm hand in dealing with the players, coaches, parents and facility personnel. He did it ALL graciously and expertly. I have been forever in his debt. He will be greatly missed by the tennis community.
