Alverta Wells
July 29, 1928 - December 18, 2025
Alverta Wells, 97, of Plymouth, passed away Thursday night, December 18, 2025, at Beatrice Health and Rehab. She was born on July 29, 1928, at rural DeWitt. Alverta was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Plymouth. She graduated from Plymouth High School, attended Peru State College for one year and then taught school for three years. On November 27, 1949, she married Arthur Wells, Jr., at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. They owned and operated a farm equipment store and dealership in Plymouth for 30 years. Alverta was a life-long member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Alverta enjoyed golfing, bowling, quilting, and playing cards.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Hoge of Plymouth; two sons, Greg (Ruth) Wells of Beatrice, and Mark (Deb) Wells of Plymouth; six grandchildren, Wendy (Evan) Jones of Western, Lorie (Wade) Heidemann of Plymouth, April (Paul) Barnes of Lincoln, Larissa (Adam) Frey of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, Benjy (Jade) Wells of Phoenix, Arizona, and Michael (Laura) Wells of Plymouth; 12 great-grandchildren, Garrett (Brandi Wetzel) McKenzie of Western, Paige, Ethan and Levi McKenzie of Western, Gabe Jones of Western, Skylar Heidemann of Kansas City, Missouri, Samantha and Trevor Heidemann of Plymouth, Evan, Natalie, Jase Frey of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, and Malachi Wells of Phoenix, Arizona; two great-great-grandchildren, Colton McKenzie and Angel Wetzel of Western; sister-in-law, Hazel Rehm; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, who died on January 15, 2021; son-in-law, Charles Hoge; parents, Ernest and Alvena (Rahe) Rehm; sisters, Shirley (Frank) Imes, Tahlida (Edwin) Rahe, and Erna (Otto) Sievers; brothers, Dale (Darlene) Rehm, Allen Rehm, and Otto (Phyllis) Rehm; sister-in-law, Glenola (Lowell) Germer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 26, 2025, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Plymouth with Pastor Justin Dauck officiating. Burial will be at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery west of Plymouth. A family prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at the church. The service will be livestreamed by the church. The body will lie in state on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice. The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the church with the church elders in charge.
